The VOICE project was supported in part by a grant from the Wyoming Arts Council, with support from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Wyoming Legislature. This project provided voice acting lessons to Wyoming citizens with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD). During the trainings, participants learned several techniques in voice acting such as voice inflections, developing a character, and some tips for recording into a microphone and for videos.
After attending the VOICE training, people felt more confident in their abilities to use their voice for self-advocacy, breaking down social barriers and opening doors of opportunity in both arts professions such as acting and in their daily life.
The individuals who took the training were offered gigs as voice actors for another project sponsored by and for the Nevada Governor’s Council on Developmental Disabilities called the Y.E.S. project.
